PERFECTED GROUNDS OF APPEAL AGAINST CONVICTION
THE GROUNDS OF APPEAL AGAINST CONVICTION .ARE AS FOLLOWS:

1. The conviction is unsafe on the ground that at trial a reasonable, innocent
explanation for the deceased's death was not explored and evidence to support
it was not adduced leaving a lurking doubt whether an injustice has been done

PARTICULARS

2. On 12 December 1997, following a trial of 9 davs duration before Mr Justice
Kennedy and a jury, the Applicant was convicted of the murder of Matthew
Thompson. He was sentenced to imprisonment for life
3. At trial the Applicant was represented by Mr John Charles Rees QC and Miss
Mary Parry Evans. On 15 December 1997 Leading Counsel advised that there
were no arguable grounds of appeal against conviction.
4. A brief summary of the case considered bv the jury material to this appeal was
as follows. Other evidence in the case. some of it potentially inculpatory, has
been ignored, for example evidence
a) of threats made shortly before the incident by the Applicant to the
deceased;'
b) of a struggle being heard inside the house;
