At 4.15am on Saturday 1st March 1997, I was on duty in uniform
When as a result of information received I attended at 268 Old Barn Estate, St Julians Estate, Newport.

Here I found PC56 SPOKES, PC856 JONES and persons I now knew to
be Mr & Mrs PAGINTON. I spoke to Mrs PAGINIQN who confirmed to me
that her son Paul PAGINTON had phoned her earlier. She said she had recently picked him up in her car from the Stonehouse Public House Car Park. She said that. he appeared to be in a hell of a state and had blood on him. They had driven through the Pill area of Newport and Paul had insisted on being dropped off at the top end of Old Barn Estate.

This information was relayed to the Senior Investigating Officer
Inspector TAYLOR and I then assisted in a search of the Old Barn
Estate for the defendant Paul PAGINTON.
